The gift of the talking stick
Talking sticks are a gift from knowledgeable trees who wish to work with humankind. Their request is to impart their knowledge through the use of a talking stick. When harvesting talking sticks, care is always given to only take what is freely given by the tree or is surplus to requirements. Sometimes, there has been a meeting of minds between the tree and the sea before the sticks are harvested. It is thought that the tool itself is a go-between, or a bridge between the human mind and the natural world. The physical outcome being the message or the wisdom that the tree wishes to impart.
